I think lots of people battle this. I looked at the FFR setup about a week ago and ended up tossing it out. I understand your problem is on the filter side, but the O ring with mine was not even close to being correct. I think most people opt for the ford 90 degree adapter.

I'm using the FFR piece for the filter end OK but I understand others have had problems. Canton makes a nice piece to replace it.

I had trouble on the remote adapter end [mounts to the engine]. Canton makes a part to replace this too. I replaced the FFR piece with the Canton piece and no trouble. I think Mike Forte carries these. Pegasus Racing and Summit may also have it.

The 90 degree adapter is OK if you aren't running an oil cooler.

If it's leaking at the filter seal area, there can only be a couple of reasons. Either the seal area isn't flat, or the casting is defective and has a void or hole that is allowing oil past the filter seal. I think these adapters are the same ones that TransAdapt sells, and are generally a piece of off shore procured junk. If the surface isn't flat, you can have it trued up at just about any automotive machine shop. Don't know what it would cost, but it will probably be about the same as if you bought a new one. If the casting is porous, throw it away and get the Canton one. John

Mine did the same thing. I just kept tightening the threaded fittings into the bracket as well as the hose clamps for the rubber hose onto the fittings and the leak eventually stopped.

 

the FFR piece is a POS! I believe it's a FMS unit to be exact. Most people have dumped it in favor of the canton billet stuff. A little pricey, but good stuff.

 

I use the Canton engine block piece but got the remote filter unit from CV Products

just buy 90 Degree adaptor for engine and be done

 

make sure you oil/grease the O ring before you cinch it up to the engine block,,,just like the
you would an oil filter,,,,

 

I'd like to stay with the remote mount rather than the 90 deg. adapter. Does anyone have use Moroso oil filter mount? I noticed that it costs a bit less that the Canton mount.

Steve: I had the same problem. My mechanic told me to chuck the Motorcraft oil filters and use a NAPA racing filter. I did and have no leaks.
