Are you talking about the actual ignition switch with key? No real way without removing the console/ center dash.

I don't have a GTM. But is that a normal place to put the starter key and USB ports. Looks to be the side of the transmission tunnel?

 

That is not the ignition switch that comes with the GTM kit.....and also not the normal place to install it. I'd say you're probably going to have to pull the dash out, get the ign switch out and see if it has a part number on it or any way to identify what it is so you can buy a replacement.

On second look, it does appear that there is a plate that your AC controls are installed into. Instead of pulling the dash, you may be able to pull that plate off and hopefully have enough room to reach your arm back in there to get to the ign switch?

 

Any idea on how many screws are holding the dashboard on and their location? They seem like they’re pretty hidden. My other option is too cut an axis panel in the tunnel next to the ignition to access it.

 

These cars are all custom built, so there is no "standard" place for screws. Most likely, you'll need to begin with removing the instrument cluster and then using that opening to go in and remove the screws that hold the driver's side dash pod to the main dash. Once you get that dash pod out of the way, hopefully you will be able to figure out what else is holding the main dash part in place. Have you tried to remove that plate that surrounds the shifter to see if you can access the ignition switch thru there?

 

Yes, there’s not very much room where the shifters is . I might also try to remove the stereo to see if it can be accessed through there.

 

Like Shane noted, this will be the "supercar tax" you pay for owning this. Every task takes exponentially longer, but the enjoyment is worrth it!! So just take your time and document it so you know how to put it back together.
