what's everyone doing for extra trunk storage space?

I'm looking to see some ideas on what people are doing to make extra trunk storage space? ie hidden areas for tools, compressor, can of fix-a-flat and extra cargo space for trips?

I have seen some dropped trunk floor mods but the fact that they are over top of the gas tank, requiring modification of an engineered "crumple zone", makes me more than a bit nervous.

Ideas?

some have drpped the aluminum floor while leaving the factory bracing in tact

Earl's kit all the way. I have a cover planned to make that space hidden - if I ever find the time.

SB,
I ordered the enlarged foot box modifications from Linwood (they worked great), and then took the old aluminum and fabricated a 5 1/2" deep drop box on the left side of the lower trunk floor that fits between the factory frame with no chassis modifications. The material was surplus from the foot boxes and the total time spent was about three hours. I now have room to "hide" everything I'll need to fix a tire on the road without eating up limited trunk space. I also mounted the inertia switch in this box to keep it out of the trunk. Doing this and the Linwood battery box cleaned up the trunk nicely!

I put a box in the floor of #3422 that was manufactured by Russ Thompson. I don't know if he still sells them, but definitely a beautiful piece of work. It fit above the fuel tank. I left all the stock frame bracing in place above the tank, you could see it when you removed the box cover. BUT the storage room was still available and very effective. I stored my tools, fluids, track-day supplies, etc. in there. There are some pics in the "Old FFR" pics link by my signature if you'd like to see, look in the "Phoenix Car" albums. HTH

Put a trailer hitch on the back and tow it.
