I took a look at a vehicle the other day, from which I was going to buy the engine and drive train (not for a cobra) to swap into my daily driver. The vehicle was in one piece and driveable, but the owner advised that the title for the car was "washed". Apparently it was a US car, subsequently purchased by the current owner, who found that he could not register the car in Ontario. He was advised he had to export the car back to the States or part it out. My spidey sense says to walk from this, but I am curious if there is any way to determine if the parts can be purchased legitimately and confirm that the vehicle is not stolen. I have no interest in doing anything illegal or unethical, just interested to know what verification measures exist for this sort of thing.
