Thread size for drain plug?

My oil pan drain plug hangs down too far below the chassis. I'm looking for a low profile plug to replace the hex-head plug I now have. Does anybody know the thread size oil plug for a new Ford 302 crate motor? Is it 14mm X 1.5, or is it a US thread?

If it's a new crate motor it should have a 14mmx1.5 plug. The older original pans were imperial but the new replacements are metric.

Mine was the pan off a 90 mustang and is 1/2"

From what I recall the "real" ford ones are imperial -- aftermarket pans are metric.

There is a company called "CG Enterprises" on the 'net that sells a flush mount drain plug that uses a hex key, but it's only availabe in metric. I looked EVERYWHERE for a flush mount one for my imperial pan and eventually gave up.
