So let me say should have looked this up beforehand but here I am. So disassembled everything to remove T5 from MIII and send to shop and rebuild and freshen up so shifting smoother. I was surprised to find unlike my Loanstar you cannot just runback tilt and drop out, so wondering if there are tricks or is it a mass disassembly of bellhousing etc. or god forbid you really have to remove engine to just remove the trans. I stopped for the day as I was really thinking of using a BFG but have gotten older and know whatever I do I have to fix. lol

It’s been covered before but speaking from personal experience, and also with a mark IV, it’s doable alone but would have been 50 times easier with a second person.
I pulled the driveshaft and trans bracket. Took out all put the two bottom bell housing to engine bolts and left the last two loose. Then took out the trans to bell housing bolts. Slid the trans back with the weight on my shoulder, then take out the last two bellhosuing to engine bolts. Tip the bell housing down at an angle, drop the input shaft of the trans clear, slide forward, full weight of trans on my shoulder, try to hold onto bellhousing with other hand and not drop either. Install is reverse order and only slightly more difficult

Datosi has it. If you can remove the top of the tunnel and have a friend help it makes things a lot easier and safer. I was the helper and ran a strap down from above, under the trans and back up. I stood on the seats and adjusted the strap length so I could stand comfortably straight up and take the trans weight so the guy under just needed to do the maneuvering.

Might apply have a TKO-600 but might help the next guy. Did a clutch flywheel replacement last summer.

Build the car with a removable transmission cover. Make or buy studs to fit the bellhousing to trans bolts. Made mine. Buy a cheap manual transmission jack.

Fit trans jack to take transmissions weight. Support engine with floor jack. Remove one transmission to bellhousing bolt at a time & replace with stud. Drop drive shaft. Unplug any wires going to transmission. Remove shifter.
