Getting ready to order my complete kit before the "price increase" Ya, I know they sucked me in....

Anyway, I was not sure what the upgraded Gear driven Posi/True trac was all about. Should I spend the extra $326 over the standard posi? Anyone with experience with the too different options?

Thanks,
Brent

If you got your order in under the "summer special" deadline the Tru-Trac upgrade was supposed to be included - that is according to Rick @ FFR. My rear end is supposed to ship this week - about a 5 week wait. He may have said that it is included on all orders now - you should ask about it.

I ordered on 08/27/08 and the TruTrac rear was included free with the order. So, I assume your order should be the same. I even have my invoice from FF already and it clearly states the TruTrac as a no cost addition.

Like you, I was also sucked in by the summer special. Cheers!

Detroit Tru-Trac is a worm gear drive. It's a modern version of the old Gleason drive.

It does not use friction plates or locking plates. It's quiet, smooth, and very effective. It's very strong, and should last just about forever. You do not need a friction modifier, since there are no clutch plates.

I started out with a standard Ford LSD. It didn't take me long to kill it - about a year. The tru-trac has been through three hard seasons of road racing. Still as strong as ever. It also improved the handeling of the car - it got rid of the push in the corners.

If you're planning anything more than a mild-moderate 302, it's worth the extra dough.

True Trac

I installed a TrueTrac in my MK III just before the HB meet in April. Also installed 3.00 gears. I love the way it works, is very strong, no worries ever. You will be happy with it. If it is not included in your kit, then pay the extra for it. You will not be sorry.
