Did I ruin my donor gas cap?

In order to get clearance for my Lemans Gas cap, I bored a 5/8" diameter hole in the top through to the main plane. I now see all of the guts. Is it going to leak? Is it going to vent when I don't want it to? Should I be worried about this one more thing?

For peace of mind and a lot cooler look while at the pump, spend $12.95 and get one of these:

Just do a search on perma cap on the web or go to Advanced Auto Parts.

They work great and are low profile. No need to take the cap out to fill it (which makes your LeMAns cap "LOOK" even more functional at the pump...)

No you didnt. All the plastic top part does it make the cap click when you overighten it. If you wanna test it blow into the other end.

Replace if you have any doubts, cheap. Cap has to hold pressure in the system.

Get the perma-cap. When it comes time to fit the cap under the LeMans filler, the stock one is too tall. Trust me on this one. If you try to make the stock one fit you loose all of the spring on the LeMans filler.
