This is my second post on this subject. I've done some research and "think" the cam is a Crower with .465 lift set up for street/strip. The distributor is out of a 91 302. The engine is a 68 302.
Here are some measurements.
Distributor length from flange to tip end - 5.58"
Depth from block flange where distributor rests to retaining clip on oil pump drive shaft - 5.54"
Depth from block flange where distributor rests to tip of oil pump drive shaft - 4.62"
When I insert the distributor, it only lacks about 1/16" (I said 3/16" earlier, but was wrong) for the distributor flange to seat properly against the block.
Obviously, the distributor is going down over the pump drive shaft, but is bottoming out on the retainer clip on the shaft. So, what do I do? Cut a little off the distributor shaft or what?
