I am going to purchase a lift early next week. Autopro makes a 2 post that has been recommended on the FFForum that is only 8' tall. It has a 6,000 lb. lifting capacity. Perfect for the Cobra and other cars. Most other manufacturers have a 9,000 lb. as their base model and they are 9' tall. Anyone else have an 8' tall model?

Also considering 4 post for mobility reasons. Just do not like the idea of having to jack the frame up again once you lift the car off the ground if you want to do brake work, ect. But, on the other hand it would be nice for suspension height adjustments and such.

I bought a 4 post from http://www.directlift.com/direct_park7.htm that I'm happy with. It comes with a free jack-tray for wheel-off-the-ground work. The advantages to a 4 post are: quick easy use by anybody (not on their knees), they have more under-clearance for low cars(like Cobras & Vettes), they're portable(don't need to bolt to a reinforced concrete floor) and most residential types have low posts under 8'. Directlift is also advertising a new portable frame type of lift for even lower cost. See http://www.directlift.com/direct_pro6mr.htm .

Is it possible to get a 2 post lift and fab some ramps that fit on it? Then you could have the full ramps for everyday parking and no kneeling, and the adjustablity of the two post when doing wheel/suspension work.
