Aluminum AN Torque Specs. Check your fittings

I had three barely noticeable leaks in my fuel system during first start. I ended up purchasing a new hose because I thought I had over tightened the fittings. All of my fitting are Earl's fitting on Earl's Ultraflex hose.

I thought I had my fittings too tight and now I am wondering if I was not tight enough. I have crows foot wrenches with an inch lbs torque wrench.

Can someone verify?

I had similar issues and used some nose savers to cure leaks. Nose savers are thin pieces of soft aluminum that fit over the tip of the male AN fitting. Your local AN vendor should carry these. It's very unlikely that you over under tightening your fittings as they do not require much torque.

Earl's conical washers

If you can't find them let me know. Mine are made by Earl's.

Look for conical washers or seals for AN fittings. Summit Racing has them.

Crowsfoot wrenches

I just happened to have these in my tool box from way back when. They work perfectly for my aluminum fittings and appear to hold better than a standard open end style wrench.

Still not completely comfortable with the torque specs. I posted as they do not seem to coincide with the flat and a half method. I guess somewhere in between is about right.
