Truck Bed Liner on underside of body

Ken,
I'm looking in to doing the Morton's TBL on the underside of my car (at least in the wheel wells, underside of hood, and trunk underside). Do you recommend doing the entire body underside, or will it cause a problem?

I guess they sell them as "Kits" in sizes that would do a full sized truck bed. Any idea how much product it would take to do my FFR? (Or any idea how many cars one kit should do?)
Any tips for spraying that you can offer? Do I only do one heavy coat, etc?

Can you offer any sugestions?

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Only spray the plastic bedliner if the body has been sun cured 15 days or so, or at least 30 plus in a very warm building. If the glass is still new (less than 60 days)it may still be gassing off and you might wind up with delaminating of the liner. The type/brand also has a great part of the quality of your application.
NOTE: Bedliner is just that, it's a protective FILM not the greatest in adhesion qualities.

Thanks Ken. One clarification question - When you say "scuff" the underside, how much are you talking about? The glass is very rough and scuffing it would really only be the high spots. Do I take all the high-spots down until it's almost smooth?! Seems like that would put me 1/2 way through the glass mat.

Grumpy. Good points about adhesion. My body is a year old now and spent many days outside this summer, so I think I'm okay. But you did make me wonder what it means to "scuff" the underside before I spray the liner...

Thanks Ken, I think I understand now.

John,

I think the general idea is to do at least the wheel well areas to prevent the star-shaped rock chips on the topside of your body. However, I really like the uniform "ripple" effect of this bedliner, so I might do the whole underside including the hood and trunk areas...
