Through Bolt Hood Latches

Anyone have piccy of through bolting hood latches. I've drilled the holes and notched for the square tabs on the latches. The hole on the back side iof the hood was drilled through the center of the ridge along the hood edge. I don't see any room to through bolt and add a nut on the ridge/lip. I'm hesitant to use the stainless screws provided in the kit to fasten them on the hood. They don't seem strong enough, but I'd venture to guess alot of you went this route and they're fine that way.

As always thanks for your help.

I have the screws in now, but will be changing them for stainless button head through bolts with
nylock
nuts on the back side.

latch screws

Don't have a pic of inside the hole, but this is how I finished.
The tabs on the latch I filed down so the where just a little less the the thickness of the glass. Used small washers under the nylocks. The bigger bottom hole gives enough room to assemble then ad the grommet to finish off.

And by the way, don't drop the little washers or nylocks in the channel when the hood is up, you'll never get them out.

Convincor, thanks for sharing your idea. I'll get right to it.

Troy I can take a pic of mine tonight. I also thru bolted the latche's "but" used the alternate location that moves the latche's inward more compared to the ffr mounting.
Doing this gives you an even flat area under the latch's for the nut to seat. Also feel it looks better.

I also moved mine per Sergio's webpage. Latches are located closer to the center of the hood.

Hindsight, that'd be great if you posted your pics of what you did. Thanks.

Update

Well, I thought I'd drill holes for the latch fasteners. I drilled the two holes for the screws/bolts and the holes became part of the larger hole that the latch sits in. Thus, there are no separate holes for the fasteners. Now, there's nothing for the screws or bolts to hold on to. Any suggestions to fix this? The latch fits in perfect and does not wiggle around at all. I just need a way to secure them to the hood. I thought installing the hood and the hood latches would be the easy part.

Yep need to turn the base around 180* it gives more meat for the screws and a flat surface.
Once you turn the base. Hold it in place or use the gasket to dril the bolt holes.
Little 3M HSHF along with rage will take care of the unwanted holes if they show when done:)
