Relocating Flywheel Dowels

I'm installing my new clutch and for the flywheel dowels to line up with the new pressure plate they would need to be relocated to other holes.

Can these actually be removed without tearing up something? If so, how?

Or should I chance not using them at all and just let the plate's bolts center the pressure plate?

Thanks,

Matt

dowels should be pressed in, you should be able to pull the pins, you will usually get clutch chatter if you don't use them. Try using a pair of channel locks and twist and pull, try with heat if they do not want to move. you will have to get new ones or clean up the marks on the old.

What tyep of clutch are you using, adn are you sure you have to relocate the pins?? I pulled the pins out of mine by tapping them out from the backside. I only had to do this to one of them because I tried a pair of pliers first and the first one came out easy, but if you have to really clamp on the pins I'd worry about damaging them.

It's the FSM heavy duty clutch. The pattern on the stock pp has the bolt and dowel within about 2 inches of each other. This new pp has the dowel holes centered between the bolts.

FWIW, after researching last nite I determined I want the King Cobra clutch instead. I picked that up at lunch but didn't look to see if is the same pattern as the heavy duty yet.

Anyway, good news that the pins are accesible from the back. I'll pull the flywheel and punch them out.

Thanks for the help guys.
