I believe an easier solution would be to purchase a turn signal kit from Frank at i.e. 427 Garage...

 

The 33 hot rod comes with an IDIDIT column. The turn signal/hazard switch plugs directly into the Ron Francis harness. It is available as a tilt or non tilt.

It has brackets that bolt to the pedal box on the 33 frame, not sure if the MK4 is the same or not.

 

I did a Flaming River tilt column in a MK I.
32 inch column.
It is very tight on the drivers side due to the Mustang pedal box.

 

The only one I have ever seen also had tilt. That made it stick way out of the dash so the wheel was much closer to the driver than I like.

 

It is very tight with a 460 motor.
