In my untested but humble opinion, they are very similar. I have a Trutrac in a Toyota pickup(with 350 in it) and it works fantastic. I have never tested a Torsen. They both work on the same principle and both should be very reliable.

 

I think they are both about the same. Both are worm gear drive, and derived from an original design of another company that no longer exists.

I have a TruTrac in mine. Big improvement over LSD. I was told the worm drive would last longer, and provide better track performance. I am a little concerned that if I spin it fast enough it will form a worm hole, and then I'm in trouble. I'll let you know.

I think my Torsen is probably the one single change that made the most significant handling difference. Hands down! I paid $440 from a FMS supplier
