Was in the big orange home fix-it shop this weekend ...

Escaped and had a quick look at the tools.

Saw a new (?) rachet from Husky. This one is 1/2" drive with a 6deg. swing on the rachet, but you can also rotate the handle like a screwdriver to rotate the drivehead. Rotating the handel either way will rotate the head in the same direction as you have selected.

Don't know how useful this would actually be - but it I thought was innovative.

Doug - they're a pretty neat tool, however, you need to be careful when torqueing on them (ratchet wise) as the handle turns and removes some of the control of the ratchet from your grip.
Now - if they figured out a way to lock the handle from turning - I'm IN!!

edit - come to think of it - I've not seen or used one in 1/2 drive - only 3/8...

They are called a Sidewinder, T-Handle Ratchet.

Mine does not turn the T-Handle when working as a ratchet. It is very handy for turning out a nut or bolt with little room for hands or swing of the wrench.
