Carb Spacer For Air cleaner Clearance?

I have a 302 with Performer RPM manifold and Holly 570cfm and X-cam. I need clearance for the air cleaner to raise about 1/2 inch to clear the MSD dist. Should I raise the carb with a spacer or space the air cleaner? Will the carb spacer alter the performance positive or negative?

Air cleaner spacer if you don't have a fuel percolation problem in the heat of summer.

If so, a carb spacer.

I actually have both.

Carb spacer may or may not make a noticable difference. it won't hurt performance. Just not make a big difference in how the engine performs. It "should" help increase mid and top range power if an open type spacer. Course air cleaner spacer is much cheaper so:)

I'm using a one inch phenolic carb spacer - called a Super Sucker (honestly!) isolates the carb from engine heat and increases low end torque and the giant K&N clears the distributor.

Hi Tom,
I have a nice spacer that's about 1.25" tall. I have other models too.

I needed to raise my C@bra air cleaner to clear the distributor on my Mass-Flo injection and I used a 1" spacer from the Mustang Shop in Calgary, Alberta (Canada). He knew what I was talking about as soon as I asked. It cost a couple of bucks.

For the cars with the Super Sucker spacers, what intake manifold are you running? According to tech at High Volume Heads, the phenolic spacers are only recommended for drag racing because they will deteriorate when used for street use. I am using a performer RPM (not air gap). I ordered the ST-4150-4 aluminum 4-hole. For heat reduction they recommend a phenolic spacer (thin) between the carb and spacer. How about those manifolds?
