Stuck the new 3.27 gear in it. Mechanic and I went for a test drive. New Maserati Spyder pulls up and snickers a little, revs a little etc. Lots of condescendance oozing out of the cockpit. Those Ferrarri's sure sound good when they are revved right out at 8k in first gear. And the paddle shifters are awesome for shifting speed. Not that fast though. Had 1 car length by 45 mph with two bigger guys on board.

I really like these 3.27 gears for the 408. They make 1st useful with the Mickey ET's and make the whole car faster -even if it pulls a little slower in 2nd.

Highly rec 3.27 rears for 408 combo.

Totally agree Charles

Not sure my new speedo cable cog is the right one (got the yellow one) but at approx 70mph I'm at 1650. Not sure that is good for my cam, but it seems to purr and does not slow on hills. \

It is the best of all worlds. By the way I run the A5 gearset in a T5. Still smooth to shift.

3:27 IRS with TKO .82 5th. Thought I might need more gear but engine pulls nicely in all gears. But I am running 2600 rpm at 70......

GB, What size MT's in the rear are you running? I need to replace my Nitto 555RII's after 8 years. I'm looking at MT 295 45 17 and running a 3.73 rear gear with a T-5Z. 2.95 1st gear and .63 5th. Mike

I run 15's

Drummer Mike,

I run 15 inch rims. MT 275 50R 15 - which actually is a 285 at the width of the sidewall. A very bulbous tire I find so it looks like it fills the wheelwell.

Seems fast

I ran it today. What seemed like 85 mph was reading 100 on the speedo.

Speedo Cogs 3.27

Hi Guys:

Lot of ways to figure this out but the following has been passed around quite a bit and almost everything is done for you -- very helpful in terms of knowing your actual MPH versus indicated or for figuring out which cog you should get to make your speedo more accurate if you want to.

For example GB, with a .64 your speedo should indicate around 62ish MPH at 1650 RPM depending on your actual tire diameter. Dually with a .82, you are closer to 77ish MPH at 2600 RPM, again depending on your tire diameter.

Plug in your tire info here:

Tire Height Calculator - Wallace Racing

Take the result and plug it in here:

Wallace Racing - Calculate Speed for given RPM, Rear Gear Ratio and Trans Gear Ratio

Take the result and plug into this formula:

New Teeth = (Current Teeth x Speedo Reading)/Actual Speed.
