I love the idea of a 5.0 Coyote powered roadster, but have a few questions about the control pack.

Would that control pack be programmable in some fashion by me? I really enjoy playing with my other mustangs using the TwEECer to do stuff like run E85, add 10psi of boost, ect. ect. :001_smile:

Also, will the control pack work on a 5.0 mustang engine, say taken from a wrecked car and installed in a roadster? It looks like you would have to go to a return style fuel setup, otherwise would work? Just curious because it states that this computer on a 2011 mustang will not start, likely due to the return vs returnless fuel system.

Yes, it is programmable with a hand held tuner (SCT, Diablo, etc.) using the OBD-II port. It should be noted that the 2011+ 5.0L processor is giant evolution of the Spanish Oak processor used in the 05-10 3V mustangs. A lot more complicated than pre-S197 processors.

To answer your other question, yes the controls pack works on a donor motor. Ford controls pack and donor 2012 Mustang GT 5.0L. Sounds pretty good to me:

Sounds pretty sweet to me.

I guess my major concern was if this computer wouldn't get any support from the aftermarket since it doesn't come factory installed. It seemed like with the older EECs, they had to be pain stakingly decoded so you could understand what each function, table and value does.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully, I can adjust the budget to get a coyote under the hood.

Both factory built car and Ford Racing controls have the same PCM. They are just 'tuned' differently from the factory. I am pretty sure even the part #'s are the same, but I'd have to double check tonight.

The handheld tuners over write the PCM code from everything I've read.

Check your PM's.

The control pack PCM is the OE PCM for the application (Shelby 5.4, 4.63V, and now the Coyote) that is custom flashed by Ford Racing to work with the modified wiring and return style fuel system of the control pack setup. The PCM comes with a Ford Racing PN sticker on it.

HTH...
