I went to DPW garage in Haverhill. This is a inspection for stolen parts, dangerous repairs,
and anything else they happen to notice. This inspection was to get a VIN number. The state inspection is totally different. As a new car it is not required to go thru emmissions for four years, from what I am told. The State Trooper took all my paper work into an office and told me to "open" the car up. Hood open, trunk open , doors open and I took the LR wheel off.
He came back and asked why I took that wheel off. I said I thought I had to. He said put it back on!
He wanted to know exactly what from the donor car went into the kit. He wrote this on the donor title. He wants original invoices only which he stamped salvage parts only. Total time 15 to 20 minutes and out!
I paid sales tax on all my parts so at the registry I paid Plate fee, regs. fee, sales tax on donor, interest and penalty on donor because did not pay tax on it when I bought it 17 months ago! (total interest and penalties $43.00). I did not have to pay sales tax twice on kit! The registry only go MSO, copy of the assigned VIN and donor title. Car is registered as a 2002 replicar roadster, model 427. (gee! I thought it was a Cobra!)
I will update after state inspection!
