okay, just finished powder coating one of the f-panels. it came out okay (but Im picky and Im going to re-do it today anyhow)

1) Clean the metal completely. Remove any marks or black aluminum print.
2) Have a fire-exstinguisher handy (for step #3)
3) Keep the gun at least 6 inches from the piece of metal. (or it can spark, and one of the sparks can light the powdercoating on fire. go figure.)
4) spray it EVENLY. after you betty-crocker it, if there is overspray, you will have a big lump
5) dont bake it when you're significant other is around. otherwise you'll be forced to deal with, "Is that going to stain my oven mits?" "Is that stuff going to ruin my oven?" "Is my house going to smell?" and finally, "Do you have to do this here?"
6) Let it cook for 20 minutes at 400degrees. make sure the oven is pre-heated prior to inserting your piece of metal. after 20 minutes. turn off the heat to the oven, but leave the item in the oven with the oven door open. let it sit 10 or so minutes to cool down
7) you're done!

powder coating system I used from harbor freight, $70:

Brad, I hope it works well. Everything I've read, from several different sources, says you should not use the oven that is used for food. Get a used one to put in the garage. Otherwise the food could be contaminated with toxic fumes and powders.

I agree with Buddy.... can be toxic! UM.... thats why you get an old oven and put it in the garage.....! Not use your WIFES oven! LOL

okay, I got an infrared heating unit which I am going to use to cook my panels in a couple hours. I've got my digital camera re-charging, so I'll post the pics on here when I'm done with them.

Also, on a side note, powder coating is a B*TCH to get off once you cook it on!!! Make sure it looks good before you cook it. I built a little metal rack thing for my next attempt here shortly. Cross your fingers. I'm cooking both f-panels at once this time.

An alternative to the butane heater is a cheap used oven. I bought one at Goodwill for $50. I keep the oven out in the garage for powder coating.
