small response from the other forums so I'll try it here---Any opinions on Painless or Wire Works or other alternatives to cleaning up the donor harness for an EFI FFR? Spent many hours just gettiing it out intact and would rather buy out of this one rather than go through the pain. There must be SOMEONE out there that took one of these routes. Thanks.

I removed some of the smog stuff from the engine compartment harness - tab, tad, purge canister solenoid, WOT air relay, etc.

I'm leaving the rest of the donor setup alone. Not worth the money or time for me to mess with it and save the minor amount of weight. Anything I'm not going to use will get tied and taped up out of the way.

Some of the extra circuits might also come in handy some day.

If you are staying EFI, some dude over on Club Cobra was selling the Ford engine bay harness, it's a simple matter to add the painless setup for the rest. I used the carbed painless kit in my car, it wasn't all that bad, once you laid out the individual circuts. Roger Stine does a bang up job on the OEM harnesses, but he is only one of several who do that service.

We were so tired of dealing with the donor harness that my shop manger, Travis, designed our own harness. The only thing we use fron the donor is the injection and computer harness. Those are them modified to be as clean as possible. The system works great but it is pretty pricey.

The first major decision for me was carb or efi, and the second was how not to use the mustang harness. After a lot of discussion on the old forum I used the stang harness. You already have everything and for about 4 beens you can have a harness that looks and works awesome. Roger stine trimmed up mine and all the lengths are puuurrrfect, all the plugs are in the right place and he gets rid of the knot that normally goes over the footbox.Would absolutley go this route again. good luck and hope this helps.

Thanks Thunderball!

Wire diet to your needs. If we get them by the 15th of the month they ship by the 30th.

We also do several body preps and paint jobs each month at my boat yard in Dana Point, CA.
