Fitting my windshield to the car I noticed the windshield was a little loose in the frame. Is this common and is it a problem. I've never heard it mentioned.

grover,
Mine also "floats" in the frame. Under certain conditions I get a squeeking noise from the glass rubbing with the rubber gasket.

From my humble experience, the glass does and should have a slight amount of movement.

The frame has a channel shape that the glass fits into. The glass is padded, protected, by a thin rubbery material.

If there is no movement for the glass in the frame (if rubber were more solid) any flexing in the frame would then put quite a bit of stress in the glass and could possibly cause the glass to crack.

The frame does flex at highway speeds, due to wind pressure.

The frame will flex if someone pushes against it.

The frame will flex when driving on rough roads or over RR crossings.
