I am trying to remember for sure, but I believe it is on the driver's side inside of the trunk, under the mat. If you don't find it there, look under the car in the same area. It is connected to the rear wiring harness.

on drivers side against the rear of the trunk. my '88 has a greyish button on the top of it.
