I'm ready to install my stripped donor's dash harness and was wondering where to mount the fuse box? Can someone give me some ideas as to where it should be mounted to? Is there any special bracketing needed? Anyone have any pictures of what they did?

Thanks in advance...

I just did this last night. It's the opening directly behind the steering wheel - under the steering shaft. There's a small rectangular opening just in front of the pedal box, between the 3/4 tubes.

I went through the trouble of hacksawing the mounting rails off the sides of the fuse box so I could slide farther down. I also made a small bracket to keep it in place, but it's only on one side. You may need to get to the back to replace your flasher someday. I know where it's at and I can get my hand up there if need be.

For some reason mine wouldn't fit in the opening just behind the 2x2 crossmember between the 3/4" rails. So I put it further towards the front between the next opening which was basically between 3/4" frame rails on all 4 sides. It is basically the same location but a little closer to the pedals and front of the car. I made a simple aluminum panel to mount the fuse box in and put a hinge on one end. If I need to I can swing the panel with the fuse box down so that it is easier to see the fuses.

I hinged mine from the 2x2 crossmember just outboard of the 3/4" pedal box supports. I then used a small (Don't know what to call it) latch to hold it up. When I need to get to the box, I just turn the latch that is screwed to the 3/4 tube, and the fuse box swings down for easy access. The latch is something I found in my garage, that was left here from the '50s. It looks like something that would be used to hold a screen w/frame in an old wood storm door. It looks like a wing nut but isn't threaded in the center. It works great. I could not get my fusebox inbetween the 3/4" supports. My harness didn't have enough slack to let me swing it down. That is why I went to the outboard side.
