Wow, I just got my FFR Mk II Roadster but have net yet acquired my Mustang Parts. I have ordered the parts but they are set only to arrive in a month. The body is secured on the frame as was by Factory Five. Can I begin the sanding and painting without a fully mounted body? (If it makes a difference I'm planning on 2 white stripes set against a bright red). Must I take any extra steps in order to paint it before my rolling chassis is even started?

On a seperate note, I have decided to bolt a supercharger to my 5.0 powerplant. Which is the best in terms of added power and driveability (the car will be a daily driver). Thankyou!

It may make it a little tough. There are certain aluminum panels and weatherseal that the body rest on, so without them, it's hard to get a good idea of how the body sits on the chassis. This means that how the body currently sits really doesn't correspond to how it will fit in it's final state.

Rlogan,
Are you saying you must fix the body to a finished go cart to lay out the stripes?
I thought you could use the measurements in the FAQ and paint it before mounting the body. Seems like it would be a PITA to mount it only to remove for paint.

The main reason you need to mount the body to a complete go-kart before you get out the paint gun is that it often needs a bit of trimming, grinding, filling, etc. to make the doors, side pipes, windshield, roll bar, etc. fit correctly. As Rlogan stated, you can't really tell how all that stuff is going to line up until you have the aluminum panels and weatherstrip installed in their real locations.

IMHO, the stripes are not the critical issue here. You can lay out the stripes with the body on the buck. There is enough wiggle room in the hinge assemblies to line up the stripes again when you re-assemble the painted body onto the frame.
