I have a dash with factory cutouts and plan to use Autometer's classic gauge sets. The Tach and Speedo, are to large to fit in the pre-cut holes. If the holes are expanded to the larger stamped size, ithe dash holes will be to large to catch the entire gauge bezel. I don't plan on using a dash pad, just the vinyl covering, so dash hole size is be more critical. What is the secret to getting the right sized dash hole?

Another Kevin,

Get a half-round file or a 1" drum sander for you drill and make the holes fit the gauge. I have the Finishline aluminum dash for my FFR and had to file too because my AutoMeter Classic Gauges didn't fit.

I'm running a 1/32" pad under my vinyl so had to fit and trim a few times to get it right. I wanted just a touch of pad so the gauges looked like they were set into the vinyl.

Doc,

I think a 1/2 round will take forever. I may go the 1" drum route though.

Also, I don't like the puffy dash look. Where did you get the thin pad from?
