Well...I've put 1700+ miles on the car , and suddenly a problem is rearing its ugly head....
Car starts and appears to run normal...After about a half hour of driving , my idle rises from
its normal 750/800 rpm to 1500 rpm...The throttle cable is not kinked or abnormal...
What are the most likely causes , and how do I diagnose?
Thanks for any help.

vacuum leak? My idle was pretty erratic and mostly high till I got all my vacuum leaks taken care of. Just a thought. Good luck Mike in Maine

Mr. Barry,

I had the same problem with my '87 EFI engine. It turned out to be the throttle position sensor.

'90 EFI - Was TPS! Mine surged to over 2500RPM. Don't buy an aftermarket one IE: Autozone-Pep Boys. Got two bad ones in a row. Call Max @5 Star Ford-no problems now, had it in two days.
