to build your car I kinda think its personal, I don't mind telling people that are educated on the whole cobra replica thing but its the random people at stoplights etc. I have been telling them its about as much as a new well optioned honda accord but then they just ask again?

BTW I have been street legal for 2 days and its awesome I need to get it washed and take some pics.

I have also got the my buddy has a real one in a barn thing allready!

i have had mine on the road for about a little over 2 weeks, if i counted all the times i heard, "oh ye ____ of mine had a real one." i would know where all the originals were. People just are not educated, so we have to educate them.

I get that too. One of my co-workers told me a few days ago that she had seen a "real" one. When asked, she said she knew it was real because the paint was faded.

I have a screen saver of build pictures and people always stop by to see the progress. Everytime someone tells me about their friend with a "real one" I tell them their friend is an idiot for driving around in a $400,000 car, and leave it at that. When they ask how much my car cost, I tell them the real amount, unless they know my wife, then I tell them the wife amount.

it was a great decision to not keep track of the cost. so i can say, truthfully, i dont know.

if i paid myself $50/hour labor, it would be pretty pricey though!!

Funny you should post this as it was a topic of discussion at home yeterday. After only being on the road a few weeks this is the one question I am already sick of. I try to bend over backwards answering questions. I will even provide a range of what it would dake someone to build one. But I have decided to no longer answer the question "How much did it cost you to build it?".

I poersonally think that question is rude and would never ask someone something so personal. As of yesterday my answer will be similar to Keith's "More than I'd care to admit".

It is amazing that people will ask if it is a real Cobra because if they really knew what the real thing was worth they would know that you are not stupid enough to be driving a car worth close to 1/2 million on the street with all the drunk stupid people driving clapped out clunkers.

I usually tell them about what a new taurus costs.

When I'm asked how much the car costs I usually tell them that there are people out there that have built the car for under 20K. I tell them that Gordon builds these cars and give them his basic turn key amount.

I never tell them what I have in my car as it is none of their business.
