Make sure you have it on correctly before you cut anything off. Every part of it is there for a reason if installed correctly. I have seen them installed backwards. I don't have a picture but could get one for you.

Those are for lateral support so it doesn't wobble side to side. Yes, they sometimes get in the way, but you need them. Just bend curved arms so they don't rub on the sheetmetal.

They fit into the groove of the hood opening. Upon final installation, you're supposed to drill a 3/16" hole through both the body lip and each bent metal and install a 3/16" pop rivet through each hole. The rivet head will be covered up by the rubber seal you put around the hood opening. These two rivets really make the hinge sturdy and connect the hinge to the body as well as the frame. Do not cut them off. It also acts to "line up" the hinge to where its proper placement is supposed to be vis-a-vis the body.

I don't know what either raceral or Bill32 are talking about!

It was a slow day at work so I took out the die grinder and relieved the welds on the arms so that I could straighten them out. It went so well that I was going to grind off anything that might be in the way. I told my Tech that I'd better check on the Forum before going hog wild. Glad I did. Saved the flanges for another day. Hope to get the hood mounted on New Years Day.

Thanks,

Tom

and if you install them make sure to grind a concave finish so when you turn the latches they snap into place, good insurance.
Cheers Ray.
