My wifey wants to get me a cover for my roadster for Christmas. Any advice on which is the best out there? I want one that is weatherproof for car shows and over nite stays even tho my car is always garaged when not driving it.

Thanks,

Jim in Pa:)

I bought mine from Car Cover World out of Dover, Delaware. They have a specific classification “FFR Cobra Store” in the left margin of their web page.

The cover fits the car perfectly. They have a lot of different fabrics to choose from. I bought the Weathershield HP in bright blue because it’s advertised to be very compact and it is! Bright blue because my other wanted it that way. It only takes up part (1/3) of my lower trunk compartment. This cover is not lined with a soft fabric; it looks more like a medium weight nylon fabric, I guess that’s the trade-off for a compact light weight cover. It is very nicely made and it does fit the car like a glove. It seems to protect the car from rain; the car was in the hotel lot at the London show, there was a pretty good rain shower overnight and the car was dry in the morning. Not inexpensive at around $350 with shipping but I did go for optional color and I am glad I was Pushed in that direction…it does look nicer than the plain gray.

Thanks guys, that's what I was looking for. It's probably similar to the sunbrella cover I had on my last boat, light weight and sheds water. Do you notice any scratches from it. I wouldn't think nylon would.

Thanks again,:)

Same as Jack and Butch. Car Cover World Weathershield HP in red. What they said.

No scratches from the cover that I can tell. It's surprisingly light. When the car is well polished (that would be most of the time...) I usually ask for help to put it on the car because it wants to slide off before it's completely in place and hooked over all four corners, the bumpers, etc.. Also got the matching bag and cable lock.

Highly recommended.

Be careful with sumbrella.

I wouldn't recommend sumbrella for our cars. It was all working perfectly until one day that rained really hard...

4 months ago, I got the cover from car cover, in sumbrella fabric, and while it repels water when the cover is well stretched so water runs always down(usually the way used in boats), if it sags a little bit and water starts accumulating, and it will just start leaking through.

Would the Weathershield HP stop the heavy rain? I'm curious.

First year for me. I've had mine in heavy rain twice. Once at London (same time as Jack mentioned before) and later this year at a car show. Both were pretty good downpours. In some areas where the fabric wasn't completely tight, like around the roll bars, cockpit, etc. there were puddles of water. The car underneath was bone dry. The answer to your question is yes.

Nothing gets through or sticks to Weathershield. This is Superman's cape. I think what Ed was trying to say is that there was some puddling on the OUTSIDE where the cover wasn't taught. You NEVER want to spray anything on Weathershield.

Josrodes said his SUnbrella was leaking through. That was who that was for.

Exactly. On the outside. I haven't had any water get through the Weathershield, which is what I was trying to say.

Same as Jack!!! They're great!!!

Car Cover World exceeded my expectations after many mistakes were made. Read below… from Charlie Watson at Car Cover World

Larry-
On June 7th, you ordered a gray Weathershield for your Factory Five Cobra by phone with Susan. You selected the Rush Production upgrade. Your cover was entered into the Covercraft system that day and was scheduled to ship on June 12th according to Covercraft’s rush production policy. It did not ship until June 14th and was delivered on June 18th by Fedex 2 Day.

On June 18th, you called me and told me you received the wrong cover from Covercraft (C16698PT). I immediately called Covercraft and they entered the correct cover into their system with a rush production and a Fedex Overnight shipping option. Again, according to Covercraft policy, your cover was to ship to you on June 20th, with arrival yesterday, June 20th so that you would have your cover before you left on your road trip today. Obviously, this did not happen on time and your cover is currently on the delivery vehicle for delivery today. Probably too late since you are leaving this morning.

Larry, our relationship with the Factory Five Cobra owners is very important to us. We will discuss this with Covercraft to see what went wrong and to improve the system. We apologize for all inconveniences. I have authorized and made a full refund ($298.95) for the cover, shipping, and production upgrades. Please keep your cover. It’s the least we can do for you.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you.

Regards,

Charlie Watson
