Just put in a new battery and alternator. Now when I accelerate the votage meter goes all the way to the right and the car cuts out over 4000 rpm. What is going on?

i would agree...bad voltage regulator.

if you don't have an alternator with a built in regulator, then having a separate regulator box, it needs to be grounded on its own.

if you don't have a good ground on it, it will work for about an hour at most and then die, and you'll see the kind of voltage spiking like you're describing.

been there...

good luck!

AJ, if you are using the stock 2G alternator, I have a Gold NAPA one new in the box with a new connector pigtail. Make me an offer!

Thank you all. I returned the alternator to Advance Auto Parts and everything seems to be running correctly now.
