It will be awhile before I'll be able to buy the motor and trans.,so I thought that the body could maybe be put on the frame so I could put the aluminum under the doors and the dash in place and the rear cockpit wall pieces too. Is this possible to do ? or do the side pipes need to be in place for proper alinement of the shell ? Also I had FFR do the cut outs so my other thought is the exit point for the side pipes will they be fine or will they need some grinding on? I want to paint the shell also while im saving up for the other stuff. I thought this would be the place to ask. THANKS IN ADVANCE ACE

I would go ahead and mount the body. Assuming you are using a Jpipe setup, a muffler shop can bend the pipe so that the sidepipes fit the opening correctly. Your going to spend a lot of time aligning the doors, hood and trunk. If your waiting on the engine and trans I would do a much body work as possible and even consider painting the car.

Its a GREAT THING to get the body on with all the sheet metal in place. Get the doors, windshield, rollbars, all that stuff sorted out and fitting, BEFORE you take it to the painter. Too bad you dont have the engine so you can get the side pipes sorted out before also. but a good exhaust man should be able to do this any time. (assumeing there is in deed a problem)

I did my own cutouts, so I can't help a lot. But, I thought FFR delieverd the sidepipe cutouts undersized so you could trim for a perfect fit.

Personally, I think you should drive your car before it gets painted.

I'm mounting EVERYTHING before painting, glad I did to 'cause I surely would be scatching paint. I am gonna drive it a few months to sort things out before I take it apart for paint. I even mounted the fender splash guards and under door panels with only a few rivets in each panel, so I can remove them to take the body off.
