Just got my Fortes de-gas tank and there is a threaded plug in the bottom of the tank. Should I seal the threads with teflon tape, pipe dope, or???

Thanks,

Ray

Should stay away from pastes, if a small glob should come loose it could fowl up a fuel pump, filter, strainer, sender... very easily and once it is in those it is virtuously impossible to remove.

Grand Valley Dreamer, A De-Gas tank is part of the coolant system and not the fuel system.
Ray, What ever you use just don't use to much and you'll be fine, Frank

I agree, but if applied to threads very carefully, ensuring none is past the "lead" thread, and you carefully start engagement, you are probably better off than with tape. Just "stripe" 1/4 to 1/3 of the threaded section axially; no need to wipe the paste all the way around...that will just make a mess.
