On the mounting face of the tail lights there are a couple of little copper/brass nuts that the lens screws run thorugh. They seem to cause problems letting the housing sit flat against the body. What have you guys done about this?

The little brass parts are what the lens screw goes into. They are kind of rectangular on one end. The rect base fits into a recess that keeps the nut from turning when tightening the screw. Wade is right, you need to use the foam gasket in order to get the light assy flush.

I have the rubber gasket and it's pretty thin...is there another optional one? There's no way this one will ever cover those , nowhere near thick enough? It might work if I trim out a hole in the rubber gasket for them to sit in...!

Ryan,

I noticed the same thing when I test fit the lights this past weekend but didn't look at it too closely. I wonder if they can be filed flat and still provide enough "thread" for the lense screw?

Just cut a hole in the gasket so the little brass thingy fits into it. Then the light will fit nice and flat to the body.

You can chamfer the body a bit to accept the raised brass portion in addition to cutting the gasket to accept them. They still won't sit completely flat. Need about 1/8" - 3/16 thick closed cell foam to really conform and seal it. Thought about this way back when. Always have bigger fish to fry though! Mark Reynolds

This is one of the first things I noticed when looking at a finished car. I plan to make a small divot with my dremel to give enough clearance.
