Tail Lens Screws - heads up

My son said he lost a screw from his tail light
lens in about 3000 miles. So i thought i would check mine ( 1400 miles ). All of the screws took at least one turn to bring them snug again.
Something you might want to check. he said the screw was a 4-48, I think.

Yeah,,,,I've always had a hunch,,, that some of you guys have a coupla screws loose.

Seriously though, you bring up a good point.
When my car was first completed, I'd go around and double check trim items & stuff to make sure everything was mounted solid. I had probs with the dash mirror wanting to loosen about every hundred miles. A couple of dabs of silicone on the mounting screws and problem solved.

PAB,Be careful using thread lock compounds on plastic parts as they can cause crazing or cracking on many plastics.The chemical agent in them seems to attack the plastic around stress areas.This shouldn't effect polyethylene type materials but I believe the lens are probably acrylic or polycarbonate and could be affected.Pete.
