Christmas is on the way and I'm looking into sway bars. I can't do two VPM sway bars, but I'm thinking a VPM on the rear and a Taurus on the front. What do you think ?

I just did the Taurus on the front and the Escort (IRS) on the back. It was easy with the pictures to guide you from the web. One thing that I was suprised by was what you had to go through to get the Taurus bar off a car at the pick a part junk yard. I think they start with the bar when the build the car. It looks like you must drop the drive train package to get the bar out. I found a car with the drive train already pulled so it was cake geting the bar. Look for one that someone has already been working on.

Which Escort sway bar do you need for the IRS? And where are these pictures showing the installation?

The Taurus bar that I see recomended is a 96-up. However, I am like Paul, and can't figure out how to get the bar out of the cars that I have seen in the yards. The back bolts of the mounts have no clearance to get a wrench onto, and I don't know if the bar could be snaked out past the engine, sub frame, etc after it is unbolted.

Is the Escort rear bar just for the IRS, or can it be used for the solid axle 3 link as well?

Of the two VPM bars, the rear is the easier to adjust. You can actually adjust it in between autocross runs to tune the car. If you are going to get one salvage yard and one VPM bar, get the rear VPM bar first for its easy adjustability.

I got the Taurus bar from a local Pick and Pull. I thought it would be more difficult than it was, although you have to literally unbolt the front part of the frame! I had a big socket that worked perfectly, and a breaker bar. It was surprising how the whole front end of the Taurus simply unbolts.

I had seen posts saying the Taurus bar is 96 to 2000. Mine is a 97.The salvage yard usually drops the whole eng/trans subframe out the bottom of the car. Then they seperate out the eng and trans. The problem is finding them at the right time cause the subframe is often treated as junk especially if it was a front end hit.My yard has about 30 Tauruses but had a hard time finding a useable front bar.

Aside from the VPM sway bar, are there any other alternatives for a rear sway bar for the 3 link?

Thanks
