As with everything, there are always trade-offs... You are trading extra resistance to corosion (stainless) for half the weight (aluminum). Another option, if you're concerned with corosion would be to have the panels anodized or powdercoated, this way you'd still keep the light weight.

If you really want stainless, and don't mind the added weight, then Mike Forte has precut panels for the whole engine bay.

Hi thebicman,
I have 2 sets of panels (8 pieces) for a MK I & MK II. I want to ake them for the new MK III & Spec racer but will need samples.

I'll have my MKIII in a few weeks and could loan you my panels for a short time to play with if it would help?

Hi Roy,
That would be great. I'd want all the exposed panels under the hood to make in stainless. Keep me posted.
