Southern Automotive is a class act

I recently posted a thread about head gasket issues on my Southern Automotive 428 ( http://www.ffcars.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=005277). The original plan was for me to get a new head and install it myself, but the final resolution is above and beyond what I expected and the best customer service I've ever had I think.

What Bill Parham suggested to me when I asked him about the time I could expect the head to come in at (they would have paid me for my labor as well), was that he will have someone drive up and install it for me. On top of that, I will get Edelbrock aluminium heads - a $1000 option! So he ended up sending two guys up to make the 1200 mile trip from Georgia to Mass. With them, they brought the new heads and a new intake as well. They performed the surgery in about 6 hours while having me lurk around and try to be useful.

All in all, this is amazing customer service. The guys were great and didn't mind my inquisitive self being there asking how things work and why things are done in a certain way. I learned a ton from them and hopefully was useful here and there as well. They even went out and bought a second tool set to allow them to work in unison...

My hat is off to them!

Thanks,

Tim TT

Sometimes I do some pretty dumb stuff. I did an engine rebuild but reused the donor water pump. Well my cheapo decision bit me when the pump crapped out at the Deep South Cobra Club meeting held at Southern Automotive. I was going to replace the pump myself in the parking lot but Bill wouldn't let me and had his guys do it for me. They wouldn't even let me help. Then, they didn't charge a dime for the work! I felt so guilty I ended up tipping the guys on the side.

I agree. Southern Automotive is a fine bunch of people.
