My budy Frank stopped by today after he put his soft top on. He is concerned on how much the top catches the wind and pulls on the windshield. He did not have the side windows on. Anyone else have a problem with this?

Talbert,

The windshield frame is flexible. It will have as much as an inch movement at highway speeds.

With a soft top on that means quite a bit of flutter in the fabric. In addition to the flutter the fabric will billow up due to the movement of the air over it

The flutter is a nuisance, the lift can pull the top of the windshield frame up in the center, creating more flutter.

The center brace is the best solution to prevent the lifting of the frame. It is a rod connecting the top of the frame to the bottom. Some even have a bracket at the bottom that attaches to the body at the top of the dash.

Reatraining the movement of the windshield frame is another matter that requires a solid header that has stops to keep the windshield frame from pushing back.
