after 2 years the car just developed the dreaded sidepipe rattle i've read about.Sounds like something has really come apart inside the area where the 4 pipes go into one. Can't find the fix in the archives. Help!

I need to do this as well. If I remember the post correctly, the idea is to drill a hole on the bottom side and insert a long sheet metal screw. The screw puts pressure on the internal part and pushed it up. Someone tried to drill into the insert and kept breaking bits. My understanding is that the screw just pushes up on the insert and "traps" it toward the top part of the exhaust pipe. HTH.

I did it a bit different and like many guys broke a few bits. The trick is you must maintain a straight line or the outer pipe will snap the bit off once you get through the first layer. I used self tapping 2 1/2" small bolts with a 3/8" head.
And....a year later I think I hear rattle coming back !

I also have a loud rattle coming from the passenger side pipe. Not to get nasty with FFR but don't you think someone at the factory would look into this problem and think of some way to fix it for already built cars and then apply the fix to all new orders???? I think I will add a new post asking this question. Unfortunately, I run the risk of serious abuse from those on the forum who get their knickers in a twist if anyone says the least thing negative about FFR. Well here goes.

The screw fix is onlt temporary. Eventually, you will have to replace the muffler. They just aren't made to last forever. The fix would be for FFR to supply the system with the Lobac "auger" style muffler. By the time you purchase, ceramic coat ( for those who do) and take the time to instal, one has a considerable amount of time and money invested only to have to replace after 6,000 mi.
