i want to add tow hooks both front and back before i get too far along on my MKII...looking for ideas to aid in both towing and tie downs for trailering...welding is not a problem

I don't have pix handy, but I used "eye" bolts , (I think they are 9/16"), bolted with washers, through the plates at the front of the 4" tubes...
There is just enough room on the outside edge of the flat plates , to drill for the bolts....
I used a nut and washer on both sides.
I painted them with day-glow paint , so they would be easy to see...I keep a tow strap with attached hooks, in the trunk. It is "Y" shaped, and comes to a point about 2 feet in front of the nose of the car...That way, the roll back won't have to use (God forbid) , chains under the car.

In true Dan fashion, I had to be different. My front hooks are on the end of each 4" tube and angle inward (thus the straps cross) The rear is a single point in the middle.
