Rcently, several of the guys who have the new silver coil overs have made comments about them being really noisy. Can anyone elaborate on this? Do they clunk, squeak, rattle or hum or what? What's FFR's position on this? Would it be smarter to just delete these from my order and then outsource them from the previous supplier or does FFR have a "fix" in the pipe?

I have the new silver rear coli-overs and they are loud. Way too loud! My wife hates this noise and makes fun of my car! I contacted FFR and the shock manufacture and FFR sent me one new shock to try. It is noisy too.

I emailed Mark Weber and he said he was going to talk to the engineers about this nasty problem. I'm a little ticked off after spending $599 for a set of shocks that go squeak-squeak-squeak all the way down the road!

I'll let you know what FFR says. I'm sure it will take a week to figure it out.

I say delete the dang things and find another source unless FFR comes up with a real solution. I know FFR won't like me saying that, but it's the truth.

Thanks Bill,
Wives can be merciless over stuff like this. I'm not ordering right away so let me know if they fix this to your satisfaction.

Just for info. I have a pair of Pro-shocks for the rear and an unlabeled pair of sliver colored shocks for the front. Doesn't FFR state in their information pack that they supply Pro-Shocks with the kits? If they are not including Pro-Shocks, who's shocks are they? I am no where near ready to put my car on the road and don't no yet if the shocks will be noisy or not. Hope this gets corrected or figured out....

Guys,

Im helping a friend order a set of Bilstien mini racing shocks and coilover kit for the solid axle FFR.

They are Monotube shocks which should better control due to the slow speed valving and they are relatively inexpensive.

We had Bilstien do custom valving, so they are special order.

I think it was Gene Young who turned us on to the proper shock size and spring length. Thanks Gene!

David,

Gene Young provided part numbers for the shocks & coil over kit, but this did not include the springs. I think he recommended 1-7/8" ID X 12" long springs. Have you been able to find these? I can find 8" and 10", but not 12" length. Also what spring rate are you using, 250 lb?

Thanks!!

The new silver shocks are QA1. I talked to them about the shock and they claim that it's a high-quality racing shock that users and rebuild or revalve. They said it's mainly used for circle track racing.

They have asked that I send the shock to them for inspection, but I'm going to just send it back to Mark Weber and let them figure it out. I have to get this fixed, it's really loud and uncomfortable to listen to after 10 minutes of driving just about anywhere.
