Anyone know of a source for plastic shifter boots like the one that FFR provides with their kit ? I'm looking for one that's slightly larger. I'd like to stick with the same style of plastic rather than leather boot.

The problem I'm having is that it causes the gearbox to pop out of 2nd and 4th gears. I soaked the boot in oil for a couple days which softened it up some, but because the plastic is so rigid it still pops out of gear.

thanks in advance

Mine did the same thing on 3rd and 5th. I wound up adapting a leather item (late model Miata boot from Moss). If you come across one, I'll buy the second one.

The only ones I've found are rectangular at the base (Hurst style). If I find one, I'll post the info.

ya know after the first 100,000 miles the rubber softens up and you no longer have that problem! :001_tongue::001_tongue:

Maybe you'll have better luck with the rectangular rubber boot than I did. It tears at the hole. So I bought a cheap replacement at Pep Boys or some similar auto parts store and it didn;t last at all. Went and bought a new one from Hurst thinking it was a quality issue. 2 weeks later it was tearing. Went to a leather (actually vinyl) boot and trim ring from Lokar purchased at Summit. It's nice and shifts are easier. I didn't realize how restrictive the rubber is. Maybe that's why it would tear so fast.

My tko 600 also popped out of 2nd and 4th. I found the problem to be my mid shifter. Called Mike Forte and he replaced the one I had with a pro shifter kit and the problem went away.... 8,000 miles later.... no problems.
