Our friend CS is trying a new tactic. Shelby American has a cute little ad in this weeks Autoweek that states "If it does not have a CSX number, it is a counterfeit."

I still do not see how our friend CS can claim the Cobra body style. AC Motorcars had it before he was involved. He did put a Ford V8 in it, but the body was already there.

How about this one.. "If it does not have a FFR #, then you definately paid too much"

Alig2,
No we cannot have the "MONA LISA", theres only one, but there's a he!! of a lotta copies, some closer looking than others to the one hanging in a musuem, which is a copy, the real MONA LISA is in a moldy old vault. CS needs to quit whinning Rob, not us.

I found it interesting that on page XVIII, Put a Ford in Your Ford, of my 2002 Ford Racing Performance Parts catelog they advertise that the Superformance Cobra Kit Car sold by Snakebite Performance uses the 460 Ford crate motor -- yet Ford enjoined with Shelby to not let FFR use the Ford or Cobra logo anywhere.

You may have noticed how during the entire lawsuit, Ford itself never really got involved. All the press releases I can remember that mentioned Ford came from Shelby's legal team.

Correct me if I'm wong but I don't recall ANY releases from Ford stating, "We are going to aggressively protect our body style."

My guess is that Ford DID get heavily involved over use of the name Cobra. Remember when FFR's site suddenly dropped all mention of "Cobra." That was probably Ford saying "That's ours, stop immediately."

But I don't think they gave a rats arse about the body shape issue. It's notning but sales for them from the replica builders.

All I can say about the Shelby American ad is: "Tasteless".

Was that ad supposed to make me sell my FFR 3035K to buy a CSX 4xxx? Trade one copy for another? All it did was make me NOT want to EVER own a CSX!

Shelby’s marketing people have it all backwards. If they played their cards right they could be friends with all replica owners, go to shows, etc. and show them the Shelby product so that we could all aspire to buy a CSX. But all he’s doing is running us off!

We should ALL write AutoWeek and email, click here: http://www.autoweek.com/feedback/feedback.mv and ask them why they would allow such a tasteless ad in their magazine. I’ve been an AutoWeek subscriber from when they were just a nobody rag, and this makes me want to cancel my subscription. According to Webster’s the definition of “counterfeit” is, “Made in imitation of something genuine so as to deceive or defraud; forged.” So I guess he claims his counterfeit is better than our counterfeit because his starts with “CSX”? Well heck, let’s all pay Alabama $250 and get our own CSX VIN number!

Give me a break!

Well, I do feel the cars made now are Shelbys. The new Mustangs aren't the same as the ones from the 60's, but noone's complaining.

But they're not the same car from the 60's. I do believe in the whole "continuation" belief. But hey, if Chevrolet was making the 67 'Vette again and it cost $50k, and some company from MA was making copies for $15k, I'd go with the 15k all else being equal. I can care less who's badge is really on the car. I'm not trying to fool anyone.

If Chevy decided that small kit kar company was doing wrong, then screw Chevy, they didn't do anything to protect any companies from making the body for the last few decades. Sure, the new 'vette's made by Chevy are made BY CHEVY, so they do have more value...to some people. Just not to me.
