Never being one to claim any more knowledge than absolutely necessary, I want to get some firsthand advise and instruction on rolling body edges.

What actually is it?

What techniques are used to do it right?

Where are all the places that benefit from this body work "enhancement"?

I would much rather ask than to make assumptions and end up regretting it later.

Thanks all for your help...

On the original cars the cockpit edges were "rolled" around the frame tubing during assembly. The F5 cockpit edges are flat so some will build it up - just an 1/8 to 1/4 inch and sand them round so they appear to be wrapped around the round tubing like the original 60's cars.

Just starting my bodywork now and I'm debating.

If you go to the "Ask an Expert" forum "Street Rod Painter" you will find more info.

The key areas to hit if you want to roll the edges would be the wheel well lip, and the entire cockpit edge, including the doors.

As Scotty said, search the Ask an Expert>SRP forum for "Rolled Edges" and you'll find a wealth of information.
