Make sure the clutch s fully depressed. There is a hump in the floor that can keep your foot from going all the way down. Reverse seems to need a little more clutch than the forward gears

This is normal for G50 transaxles. We've built/worked on over 30 GTM's here and all of them with a G50 is difficult to get into reverse. There is a stiff detent to get past.

When shifting to reverse, try taking your right palm and "slapping" the shift knob left. Once the knob moves left, keep some pressure on the knob to keep it left then move it upwards into reverse. It'll take several tries to get the right pressure to do this. "Slapping" or moving it quickly usually works better than slowly and using a lot of force. My 2 cents.Over time once the metal fittings wear in a little this becomes easier.
