My standard FFR 4-1 glass packs have been getting MUCH louder as of late. Its not so much the volume, but the "tone" of the exaust that has changed and is starting to bother me. It sound cheesey. What are the options for replacing the glass packs inside the standard 4 into 1 FFR side pipes? I have no problem cutting them open and welding in new guts but would like to know what others are doing or have done. What type of replacement materials are available and which types are best in your opinion. In addition, are/were you happy with your choice.

Yes, I am aware of FFR 4-4 and MM 4-4 replacement systems and have seen and heard them both.

Thanks!

The Classic Roadster guys had mucho problems with glasspack and inside pipe diameter restrictions.
CR had them running through about 1.5" of inside diameter !Many wound up buying a new center section for the sidepipes that welded right in. The interior diameter was 3". Those who installed these $65 mods from a vendor advertised in JC Whitney simply cut the pipes , welded the center tubes in and re-attached the end tips. Big raves on the results . You can easily get info by searching the CR forum section at www.clubcobra.com.

Here are the pipes I think you are referring to Jim. For some reason, the picture is gone

I remember some folks tried the turbo style, and they did not make as much power as the simple straight throughs. Here is a pick of the turbo style

Jim, did you see that post on ClubCobra 2-3 days ago..."Arizona Exhaust is No Longer"

Lucien has quit making sidepipes. I remember it was rumored that Lucien built the pipes for JCW. I bet when he stopped, JCW had no replacement and this is why the selection is tiny today compared to what it used to be. Those Lucien style sidepipes may be rare as hen's teeth now.
