I removed the EGR spacer and valve. I am just going to let the electrical connection/plunger hang behind the motor. I have heard some folks depress the plunger half way and tape/tie wrap it. Others have done nothing.
You could also consider getting a new chip burned that ignores the signal from the EGR; then you can just cut the wires. My understanding is that if you don't get it right, the computer will not advance the timing.
